"None will be the wiser," said the gator to the clown.
"Just the tiniest dash of peppermint, and they'll never get us down."
"But that's cheaters," said the smiler,
and he called for what a strike.
The gator bit his head off,
and you know what that's like.
Ang buhay mo ay sasarap

Peksman, promise, walang palya,

The threat of typhoon Reming (AKA Durian) hanging over everyone was evident in the cold air that kept me from sweating during this morning's commute to work. I was suddenly reminded of how, during typhoon Milenyo, I walked along the side of SM fronting Park Square 1 (I was on my way to get a cab) with an umbrella in front of and not over me, with my body leaning forward at an almost 45-degree angle, just to keep myself from being bowled over backwards by the strong winds. I was terrified; I could hear people shouting and roofs threatening to come apart just meters away from where I was. Here's to hoping and praying I won't ever have to go through that again.
I'm gonna be a Fireside Chatter this Saturday at AJMA's (Ateneo Junior Marketing Association) 12th Ateneo Intercollegiate Marketing Seminar. Nothing like a speech, really. Just a casual dinner where the participants (students from AdMU, UP, UST, DLSU and UA&P) just get to talk with the chatters and ask the questions that probably wouldn't have come up during a formal talk's very uncomfortable and awkward open forum part. Hats off to the organizers for a nice touch with the fireside chat thing.
Speaking of Saturday, am thinking of watching WWE Survivor Series 2006 at Glorietta, before the AIMS thing. 3 classic Survivor Series matches? Wow. Am looking forward to the Team DX vs Team Rated-RKO one.
Ang sarap naman ng schedule ko this week. Went to work Monday and Tuesday, leave yesterday, then work today, tapos 3-day weekend. Of course, the past week was hell since I technically worked straight from Tuesday last week to Tuesday this week (for the Avanza event), but I guess everything just evens itself out.Patra Currently Listening: Patria Querida by Los Guarachos de Oriente |

He looked up and saw elephants. He watched as their trunks turned into knights' swords, melting into each other until they were one, and the knights themselves now the legs of an alligator.

When darkness falls, he makes his way toward her house. He is one with the trees he passes, and each creature that sets eyes on him no longer reacts; he has been here countless times before, always at night.
His watchful eyes dart from side to side, taking in all that is not the night. He treads the path he has worn as though he was not there, and as he always does, rests his back against the walled fortress of her innocence. He makes sure there is no one else, and when he is certain, he makes a small mark on the wall beside so many others like it. Six hundred and fifty-four in all.
This is her house, her fortress, although only he is entirely aware of how safe it keeps her. For as long as she is ignorant of him and of his coming here, she will have nothing to fear. But only until he decides to act. When he does, her castle will be her prison, and her knight her tormentor. |

"I asked you why you were staring at me," she said.
He was startled at how direct she was; she didn't look it at first. He blinked, trying to get his bearings.
"I'm sorry?" was all he could muster.
"Look, pervert," she started, and he cut her off.
"Wait, wait," he said. "I'm sorry I was staring. There's just something about you that I find quite... intriguing."
That made her loosen up a bit, though he could see in her eyes that she was still a bit wary. Mind your mouth, he thought, as she slipped into the seat beside him. "Go on," she said.
"Can I start at the beginning?" he said.
That made her smile. "Well, it is a very good place to start."
He smiled back. "Who are you, Julie Andrews?"

I went on halfday yesterday to go to Araneta and watch Game 3 of the Ateneo-UST Finals. The Tigers won it 76-74 in OT, regaining the title for the first time since their four-peat from 1993-1996. Despite the heartache (it was a seesaw battle the whole game), I would have to say that I am very proud of the Ateneo team.
To pull off a hat trick like that last-second shot in Game 1, to persevere despite poor shooting in Game 2, and to fight 'til the very last in Game 3, only to lose by 2 in OT... We may not have won the championship, but we are a championship team for sure.
I congratulate the UST squad and Coach Pido for a great win and a great series, but my thanks and my best go out to the Blue Eagles, Coach Norman and the rest of the staff of the team. You made us all proud yesterday; you're champions in my book. Thank you to Ken, Rabah, Eman, Jai, Yuri, Johann, Chris, Martin, Ford, Zion, Eric. We'll be back next year, guys. Special thanks, however, are due JC, Macky and Doug. It's been a great 5 years with you, guys. Good luck with whatever it is you have planned for the future, and always remember "how the bright blue eagles fly."
GO ATENEO! ONE BIG FIGHT! :)

"We stand on a hill, between the earth and sky. Now all is still, where Loyola's colors fly. Our course is run, and the setting sun ends Ateneo's day. Eyes are dry at the last goodbye; this is the Ateneo way.
Mary for you, for your white and blue. We pray, you'll keep us Mary, constantly true. We pray you'll keep us Mary, faithful to you.
Down from the hill, down to the world go I. Rememb'ring still, how the bright blue eagles fly. Through joys and tears, through the laughing years, we sing our battle song: WIN OR LOSE, IT'S THE SCHOOL WE CHOOSE! This is the place where we belong.
Mary for you, for your white and blue. We pray, you'll keep us Mary, constantly true. We pray you'll keep us Mary, faithful to you!"

At 26, did he consider himself old? Heavens, no. And that's exactly the opposite of how he felt the night he met Giselle.
She was sitting across him at the local cafe. He distinctly noticed that she was smoking Marlboro Reds, and that rather than any outstanding physical attribute was what made him stare. In turn, it was his staring that made her stand up and walk over to his table.
She had asked why he was staring, and he had (in vain) denied ever doing so. More than the fear of being thought a pervert, Joe was hesitant to admit that for the first time in a long time, a person other than himself could interest him so much.
It was a clinical, and not an emotional or physical fascination. Not that he didn't notice her nice legs. |

Sometimes he dreamed of drunkards and mermaids, Of giggly marshmallow creatures who smiled too much.
But then the sour stench of his mattress and the pain of bugs in his filthy hair almost always brought him back to reality before his lips could once again feel what it was like to smile. Currently Reading: Disruption: Jean-Marie Dru |
